Maintained accounting records related directly to service, sales, inventory, equipment, and wages. Worked jointly with an outside accountant two days a week on front­end management and accounting (gas and oil, soda and snacks), and in other areas of operation.

All areas of diagnosis and repair of vehicles. Responsible for interviewing, hiring/firing, and training of Nissan technicians. Dispatched work assignments to technicians, maintained Nissan tool room and supplies, and helped conduct Nissan internal and public workshops. Served as liaison between service department personnel and management, reported weekly to upper management, and helped in design and implementation of Nissan policies. Reported to parts department regularly regarding inventory and seasonal supplies. Given credit by Nissan National Headquarters in Torrance, California for repairing a bulletin car thereby preventing a national recall and buy­back.

Electrical, fuel, injection, carburetion, emissions, and climate control work. Performed new car inspections, installed new car accessories such as luggage racks, air conditioning, and audio systems. Occasionally performed medium to heavy line work like steering racks, clutches, head and valve work, timing belts, engine rebuilds, and manual transmission/axle rebuilds.

Performed engine rebuilds on high performance supercharged and turbocharged engines. Overhauled manual transmissions and transaxles, front and rear differentials, transfer gear boxes, and power steering rack­and­pinions. Built high­performance blue­printed MR2 supercharged engine and 6­speed transmission for company-owned car raced at Road Atlanta and other SCCA events.

Carmel Nissan, Carmel, IN August 1986–May 1989

Electrical and drivability technician. Performed most engine, transmission/axle, and body electrical work, including climate, cruise, audio, and digital display systems. Performed advanced technology work such as sonar suspensions, four-wheel steering, fiber­optics, over­head displays, turbochargers, and other advanced ignition and fuel systems and controls. Sent to district (Columbus, OH) and regional (Midwest) dealerships to diagnose and repair “problem” cars on a regular basis.

Performed light to medium line work on all makes and models of vehicles, including electrical, drivability, emissions, climate and cruise control work. Was given training on customer relations, service station management, shop equipment, and attended numerous auto repair courses. Raced super stock two years as part of 3­-man team at Putnamville, Bloomington, Brownstown, and other oval dirt tracks.
